Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026

This policy explains what Fur Hygge does with information about you when you visit this store, order a record, or write to us. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything in it is unclear, email support@furhygge.com and we will answer plainly.

Your pet’s photograph

This is the part most people actually want to know, so it goes first.

The photograph you upload is used for one purpose: producing the engraving on your record. It is stored with your order while the record is being made, and deleted once the record has shipped.

  • We do not run facial recognition on it.
  • We do not use it to train anything.
  • We do not sell it, license it, or give it to anyone.
  • Nobody sees it except the person who cuts the record.
  • We will not use it to advertise this shop unless we ask you first, in writing, about that specific photograph — and you say yes.

If you want it deleted before then, ask and we will delete it. That will usually mean cancelling the record, since we cannot engrave a portrait we no longer have.

What else we collect

What you type into the record. Your pet’s name, the day they came home, the five record lines, and the name that goes under In the care of. These are engraved on your card, so we keep them with your order — if the card is ever lost or damaged we can cut the same one again without asking you to write it out twice.

What an order needs. Your name, email address, shipping address, and the fact of your payment. Card numbers are handled by Shopify and its payment processors; we never see or store them.

What your browser tells us. IP address, device and browser type, the pages you looked at and when. This arrives through the analytics built into Shopify rather than through anything we installed.

What you write to us. Emails you send, and our replies.

Cookies, and the third parties this page touches

We have added no tracking of our own — no advertising pixel, no session recorder, no chat widget. What runs is what the store platform runs. Measured on this page, that is:

  • Shopify (cdn.shopify.com, shopifysvc.com) hosts the store, runs checkout, and sets the cookies _shopify_y and _shopify_s. Those two are analytics: one recognises a returning browser for about a year, the other groups a single visit and expires within the hour. Shopify also sets cart_currency and localization, which simply remember your currency and region so the page works.
  • Shop Pay (shop.app) provides the accelerated checkout button. It loads whether or not you use it.
  • Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) serves the typefaces this page is set in. Because the files come from Google’s servers rather than ours, your IP address reaches Google when the page loads.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Shopify treats it as an opt-out request for that browser. Blocking cookies outright may stop the cart from working, because the cart is a cookie.

Who we give information to

  • Shopify, because it is the shop: the storefront, the checkout, the order records and the email that confirms them all run on it.
  • Payment processors, to take your payment.
  • The carrier that delivers your parcel, which needs your name and address to do so.
  • The person who engraves your record, who needs the photograph and the words while it is being made.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it of us.

That is the whole list. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. If that ever changes — if this shop starts advertising and adds a pixel — this policy will say so before the pixel goes live, not after.

Why we are allowed to hold it

For an order: because we need it to make and deliver the thing you bought, and to keep the sales record the law asks us to keep. For anything else: because you asked us to, and you can ask us to stop.

How long we keep it

  • The photograph — until your record ships, then it is deleted.
  • The engraved wording and your order record — for as long as tax and accounting rules require us to keep sales records, so that we can also re-cut a lost card.
  • Emails — while they are useful for supporting you, and then no longer.
  • Analytics cookies — the durations set out above.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it;
  • stop sending you marketing, at any time.

Email support@furhygge.com. There is no form. We will not charge you, we will not make you create an account to ask, and we will not treat you any differently for having asked.

If you are in California, the rights above are the ones the CCPA gives you, including the right to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — which, as set out above, is not something we do.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to receive your data in a portable form, and to complain to your national data protection authority. Note that we ship only to the United States and Canada, so information about you is processed in the United States.

Children

This shop is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information about them. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Payments and checkout run on Shopify’s infrastructure, which is PCI-compliant, and the site is served over HTTPS. We keep what we hold to the minimum the job needs and delete the photograph as soon as the record ships, which is the strongest protection available for it: information we no longer have cannot be lost.

No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If something happens that affects you, we will tell you.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. If a change is material — a new third party, a new use of your photograph — we will say so plainly rather than hide it in a revision.
